For Houston McDonald’s owner/operator, Mary Redmond, spreading the company’s message of good food, good people, good neighbor is a mission.

She and husband, Ernest Redmond, own several restaurants in southwest Houston and have been McDonald’s franchise owners in the Greater Houston area for the past 35 years.

During that time, they have seen their franchise operations grow and provide jobs for countless individuals through the years.

On Tuesday, August 21 at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort in Austin, Texas, Mary Redmond saw that passion rewarded when she was presented with the Ronald Award, the highest recognition given to a McDonald’s owner/operator.

The prestigious award is a salute to owner/operators who consistently and boldly execute McDonald’s vision, give back to their communities and are true brand ambassadors.

For those who know Redmond, the award comes as no surprise.

Redmond led the way for McDonald’s Brand Ambassador Program and recently won the Brand Ambassadorship Award at the McDonald’s National People Meeting.

Her pride in promoting the McDonald’s system has been contagious and spreads to all of her restaurants and the people she employs.

As a leader, she not only educates her team through a solid training program, but encourages them to have fun as they work together to promote love of the McDonald’s brand.

“McDonald’s has provided us an opportunity to inspire integrity, dignity, and respect, as well as moral values to all our employees to help develop life skills, in addition to good work ethics. This is a brand I am extremely proud to be an ambassador for,” said Redmond.

Her dedication to excellence and appreciation for the people she employs has resulted in very high internal satisfaction scores for her business.

A graduate of Prairie View A & M University, she currently serves as Ronald McDonald House Charities director, Houston Coop board director, McDonald’s Houston Region People lead, lead for the Manager Leadership Council and the Houston McDonald’s Brand Love lead for the West Division.

The Houston franchise owner has been the champion of three chef events in Houston which have garnered national attention and been invaluable tools in educating and promoting McDonald’s quality food standards and commitment to excellence.

Redmond is driven and fueled by her dedication to promoting the McDonald’s brand and genuine desire to make a difference in the community and the lives of others.

“As local owner operators of McDonald’s, we focus on hiring good people to provide good food to our guests and being a good neighbor in the communities in which we live.

“McDonald’s has afforded us the opportunity to offer more of our community youth more than just jobs. We can offer them a future. McDonald’s is not just a place to work, it’s a place to grow. God has blessed us abundantly,” says Redmond.
