Bach to Soul concert to support STEAM careers

(Last Updated On: April 26, 2017)

The STEM Foundation and Performance English are joining forces to present the “Bach 2 Soul” concert from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on May 6 at the Houston Community College, 5601 West Loop South, Houston, Texas 77081.

The innovative concert merges the arts with STEM and allows the STEM Foundation, a 501c3 organization, and Performance English to support inner-city students in pursuing higher education in STEAM careers.

The STEM Foundation and Performance English, co-hosts of the concert, have utilized video conferencing to engage Italian classical pianist Francesco Attesti (www.attesti.com) and local Soul and Jazz organist Vel Lewis (www.vellewis.com) with STEM Foundation students in an innovative educational initiative to teach the science and engineering of the piano/organ over the last 5 months.

Event highlights also will include a performance by Opera singer Mariam Haddad and the presentation of special scholarships to two high school seniors to further their post-secondary studies.
