Barbara Jordan Endeavors, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides scholarships and services for
students with emotional, mental and physical disabilities, is hosting a “Steps For Students 2K15 All Diverse 5K Walk, Run and Roll” on Oct. 10 from 7 a.m. to 12 noon at HISD’s Dyer Stadium, 2020 Mangum St. Houston, Texas 77092.
Community leaders on hand for the event will include co-hosts, Zawadi Bryant of NightLight Pediatric Urgent Care and Tiffany Davis of E-PIC Training Center along with Rosemary McGowan, sister of the late Barbara Jordan, honorary chairs, U.S. Congresswoman, Sheila Jackson Lee and Chris Noble of the Rose and New Barbara Jordan Endeavors Board Chair CleRenda McGrady.
The event will feature a Health Wellness Resource Fair and Food and Toy Drive. Participants are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item for the Houston Food Bank an unwrapped toy for children ages 0 to 12 years old for a needy child at Christmas.
The high school, church, non-profit organization , small business, corporation, sorority or family members wearing the most T-shirts supporting their favorite charity will win a trophy and news story in D-Mars Community Journal.
