On Saturday, Oct. 14, REVOLT hosted the second day of programming for the fourth annual REVOLT Music Conference (RMC) at the Eden Roc Miami Beach Hotel. The innovative, industry-wide networking experience continues through today, Sunday, Oct. 15.
To close out the action-packed day of festivities, REVOLT hosted the annual 2017 RMC Gala Dinner, presented by Sean “Diddy” Combs (REVOLT Chairman) along with Andre Harrell (REVOLT Vice Chairman and Chair of the REVOLT Music Conference). Legendary rapper, actor, singer and producer Queen Latifah was honored with the prestigious Jimmy Iovine Icon Award, which is presented to industry leaders who have had a lasting impact and unique influence on music.
The exclusive evening, hosted by Ryan Destiny (Actress, Star) and Quincy Brown (Actor, Star), featured heavy-hitting performances by Ms. Lauryn Hill, SZA, and Daniel Caesar. Ms. Lauryn Hill’s headlining performance included a cover of Queen Latifah’s Grammy Award-winning song, “U.N.I.T.Y” plus many of her original hits. The program also included video montages of Common, Toni Braxton, Lee Daniels, and Jada Pinkett Smith expressing their gratitude for Queen Latifah. Additional attendees included Cassie (Recording Artist), Monica Brown (Recording Artist), Fab 5 Freddie (Visual Artist), and more.
Earlier in the day, Sean “Diddy” Combs took the stage for a #AskDiddy State of the Union discussion with this year’s RMC attendees on “How To Get To The Bag” in which he spoke on topics such as the NFL, racism in America, the overall state of the music industry, and much more.
Many of the industry’s top names in entertainment also took the stage throughout the day for panels and Q&A’s, including Bozoma St. John (Chief Brand Officer, Uber), T.I (Artist), David Banner (Artist & Activist), Pusha T (Artist & President of G.O.O.D. Music), James Cruz (Manager to Sean Combs & CEO at Cruz Control Marketing), and many more.
Additional highlights included the anticipated “Hip Hop VS Trump” panel, an exclusive beachside taping of Drink Champs staring NORE in front of a live RMC audience, a Networking Breakfast, and more.
The pool at the Eden Roc Miami Beach was live all day with a Fresh Fest Pool Festival including performances by T.I & Hustle Gang Presents, Justine Skye, Mack Wilds, Kap G, B. Smyth, Deante Hitchcock, Buddy, Jordan Bratton, and Lekeli 47.
