The 2nd Annual College, Career, and Empowerment Summit Comes to Houston in February

HOUSTON, January 3, 2017 – High school students will experience the excitement of Super
Bowl week while being empowered by professional athletes, artists, and influential entrepreneurs
in the 2nd “College, Career, and Empowerment Summit” hosted by The Institute for Careers and
Leadership Development (ICLD) a 501c3 organization, along with Bees, Inc., Players Network
Event (PNE), Syren Music Group, LLC and NIKE.

The educational event will convene on Feb. 3, 2017 at Houston Community College Southwest. Confirmed panelists and exhibitors are Támar Davis (Grammy-Nominated, The Voice contestant and co-creator of CCES), Dr. Janice Hilliard (Former Vice-President of Player Development for NBA), Dr. Ashandra Batiste (BRAVO, Married to Medicine), Drew Nunnally (Acre in a Box), Dominic Austin (Former Pro NFL Player), Dr. Camille Alleyne (NASA) and Mark Thierry (CEO, The Driven Group LLC).

The CCES, USA is the premiere event that connects participants’ physical agility to mental models through emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). The CCES also functions as an annual conduit that fosters a citywide college-going culture among Houston youth. Participants will be engaged in open, collaborative, interactive, and innovative platforms that stimulate a solution-based approach to developing a well-educated and career-ready 21st Century Houston.

“I wanted to make myself available for questions and answers. HCC is one of the most under
utilized institutions. HCC is the largest institution, and will be the premiere institution that will
train our workers. A treasure in the city! The key ingredient of the Summit was successful in that
it exposed individuals to careers that need workers and inspired the individuals to go outside the
box into fields that are seldom thought about or discussed,” former City Controller Ronald
Green.

CCES was introduced during the NBA ALL-STAR week of 2013 in Houston as an inspiration to
Houston’s youth about the importance of attaining a higher education. This monumental
achievement was successful through the partnership with Houston Community College and
Stewart Cadillac (just to name a few) with special panelist guests such as Howard White (VP
Brand Jordan/NIKE), Dr. Reagan Flowers (CSTEM), John Lucas III (Toronto Raptors; NBA),
Dr. Umar Johnson (Certified Psychologist), City Controller Ronald Green, and other influential
City Council Members and political activists.
