The power of women will be on display at the 2018 ESSENCE festival as headliners Janet Jackson and Mary J. Blige bring exciting performances to the stage in addition to top performances from Erykah Badu, Jill Scott , Snoop Dogg and more in a special curation by The Roots.
This year’s event kicks off July 5-8 in New Orleans.
The popular festival will feature an event-long slate of daytime experiences at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center along with nightly concerts at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome showcasing an eclectic mix of R&B, Hip Hop and Soul featuring Xscape, 112, Fantasia, Blackstreet and Guy and Wreckx-n-Effect, and more.
Other highlights include a first-time appearance by D-Nice as Mainstage DJ joined by host, Roy Wood, Jr of The Daily Show as Mainstage host. Actor and musician Idris Elba and MC Lyte will get the festival pumping at the turntables as a first time interactive podcast and music experience also makes its debut featuring Kid Fury and Crissle of The Read hosting a Superlounce.
New artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
