The Black Heritage Society (BHS) has kept the dream alive of displaying a life-size statue in Houston commemorating the legacy and life of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

BHS organizers have plans to host a reception, parade and march, statue dedication and festival to celebrate the realization of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Project-Houston.

The project most recently was delayed when the statue of the late Dr. King was damaged during transport to Houston in April when the original unveiling was scheduled to take place, according to organizers.

With plans back on course, the public is invited to join the BHS for the official unveiling ceremony this weekend.
