Taraji P. Henson takes home Golden Globe

Empire did not win for Best Television Drama series at the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, but actress, Taraji P. Henson, aka, Cookie, brought home the coveted Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama Series for her role in the popular Fox drama series.

Henson, who has wowed fans of the show with her one-of-a-kind portrayal of the Empire matriarch, passed out cookies to audience members as she made her way to the stage to make her acceptance speech.  The actress thanked show creator, Lee Daniels, cast members and the audience of online followers who predicted her win throughout the night on Twitter preceding the announcement.

Henson was nominated in the Best Actress in a Television Drama Series category alongside Caitriona Balfe (Outlander), Viola Davis (How to Get Away With Murder), Eva Green (Penny Dreadful) and Robin Writght (House of Cards.)

The night’s other top winners included The Revenant for Best Motion Picture, Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama, Jennifer Lawrence (Joy) for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy, Sylvester Stallone (Creed) for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.
