OWN orders new episodes of Tyler Perry’s popular shows

The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) recently gave the thumbs up to new episodes of all four of Tyler Perry’s popular scripted television series.

Fans will soon have a chance to view new and fresh episodes of Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots, If Loving You Is Wrong, For Better or Worse and Love Thy Neighbor.

A total of 87 new episodes have been ordered, including 23 episodes of the hour-long “The Haves and the Have Nots” and 22 one-hour episodes of “If Loving You is Wrong” along with 22 half-hour episodes of the comedy “Love Thy Neighbor” and 20 half-hour episodes of “For Better or Worse.”

OWN President Erik Logan described Winfrey’s partnership with Perry “a tremendous success, garnering millions of viewers for OWN and setting ratings records.”

“Tyler’s original series have quickly become appointment viewing for a passionate audience and OWN is pleased to deliver 87 new episodes,” said Logan in a recent press release.

According to the release, Perry’s scripted series have bolstered OWN’s rise to a Top 25 cable network in primetime in the women 25-54 demographic. “The Haves and the Have Nots” has averaged more than three million viewers and has consistently ranked as Tuesday night’s #1 telecast on television for African American households and total viewers. The most recent season of “If Loving You is Wrong” averaged more than 1.7 million viewers, with “For Better or Worse” averaging more than one million weekly viewers and “Love Thy Neighbor” averaging 900,000 weekly viewers, respectively.
