Empower Magazine gives WAR ROOM a 5-Star Thumbs Up.

Sony’s new release, WAR ROOM, is proving that prayer is a powerful weapon, even at the box office.

In the second weekend of its release, the faith-based film of brother-duo, Alex and Stephen Kendrick, the creative minds behind Fireproof, Courageous, Facing the Giants and Flywheel, topped out at No. 1 at the Box Office, after coming in No. 2 behind Straight Outta Compton, in the debut weekend of its release.

The film pulled in $11.351.389 at the box office in its opening weekend and has generated $24,663,458 at the box office in the 10-days since the film’s Aug. 28 release. (according to Box Office Mojo)

WAR ROOM is a compelling drama, told with humor and heart, that takes the audience into the lives of Tony and Elizabeth Jordan, a husband and wife with high profile careers, a beautiful daughter, and all the signs of success, who recognize that something is missing.

That something is revealed when Elizabeth, frustrated with her marriage and disappointed in herself as a mother, meets a timely ally (in the form of Miss Clara) who challenges her to take her self-confessed “luke-warm” faith to a new level.

The encounter sets the young woman, “with everything”, on the course to finding everything she needs when she surrenders to God and goes to war to reclaim the heart of her husband and child against the attacks of the enemy.

“We made this film to inspire, challenge and motivate viewers to fight the right kind of battles and to fight them the best way,” says writer and director Alex Kendrick.

The cast includes New York Times best-selling author and Bible teacher Priscilla Shirer who brings a perfect blend of power and humor to the screen in her film debut, director Alex Kendrick (Moms’ Night Out, Courageous), T.C. Stallings (Courageous), and comedian Michael Jr.

Newcomer Karen Abercrombie makes a powerful debut as Miss Clara in the film, which also features a heartwarming performance by newcomer, Alena Pitts, as Danielle along with a cameo appearance by renowned speaker Beth Moore in her first acting role.
