For the sixth year, Nzuri Natural Hair Festival Founder Leola Anifowoshe pulled out all the stops to put on a two-day natural hair extravaganza that has become one of the largest African American natural hair events in Texas.
Themed “Embracing Your Natural Beauty”, the event brought together natural hair aficionados from around Houston and across the country in one setting for a weekend of shopping, education and empowerment.
With the music pumping and a range of natural hair contests and performances taking place center stage, the festival mood was set as thousands of event-goers flocked into the NRG for the annual natural hair showcase.
More than 100 vendors were on hand, showcasing an array of products, including hair care, jewelry, clothing, holiday goods for the home, cookware, custom-designed jewelry, head ware, organic foods and health items.
The two-day festival featured a variety of hair-centric showcases, including Houston’s Top “Natural” Hair Stylist, , Loc It or Leave It, Biggest Afro Competition “Just Froing Off”, and Nzuri’s Best Put Together Person as well as unique fashion show competitions.
Winners were crowned in several categories, including Little Miss “Happy” Headed™ Beauty Pageant, Little Mr. Handsome Man™ Boys Modeling Showcase, Miss Top Natural Beauty, Miss Full Figured Foxy and Miss Fab Over 40.
The event also featured a number of natural hair care workshops and one-on-one natural and holistic health and makeup consultations.
