Vincent Powell’s vision of giving new and emerging fashion designers and other artists a chance to display their talents culminated in a 2014 multi-city fashion tour.

Dress Houston 2014, the final leg of the tour, spotlighted the designs of a mix of talented fashion designers, including Renee Stylebar, Willie Ntim/Skytrues, Megan Pinto, Rouge Boutique, Nonno, Tekay Designs, Chasity Sereal, Zhizhu and Robert Powell Designs.

On Nov. 9, the  showroom of Helfman Fiat, one of the sponsors of the event, was transformed into a dazzling runway to unveil an array of original and cutting-edge designs from the chic and contemporary to the sophisticated and couture.

Hosted by Lamar James and Jamie Huger Sabharwal, the show featured several vocalists, who energized the night with a variety of performances, before Powell took center stage and wowed the crowd, showcasing the talent that earned him a spot as a top 20 American Idol finalist in Season 12.

Powell, CEO/founder of Dress, Inc., called the night “a success” in helping to fulfill his nonprofit’s mission of  bringing greater visibility to up-and-coming talent.

“I thought it went quite well, a lot of hard work paid off and allowed us to feature a lot of good talent in fashion, art and music right here in Houston.

“The purpose of this show is to introduce up and coming designers and performers and put them out on the platform so that they can be successful,” said Powell.

At the close of the event, fashion-goers were surprised with a guest appearance and special performance by American Idol Season 12 winner, Candice Glover.

The multi-talented Powell has plans to embark on a 10-city tour, with stops in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Vegas and New Orleans in 2015.
