Fashion was taken to new heights as CLW and Forty Plus Models, Inc. hosted its 22nd annual scholarship luncheon and gala to provide scholarships to local high school students.
More than a thousand attendees were on hand for an afternoon of high fashion and dining at the Crowne Plaza Houston Hotel on Sunday.
Debra Lockett, president/CEO of the modeling troupe, paid tribute to her mother, Callie Lewis-Watson, founder of the organization and announced the presence of a number of local officials, including Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Congressman Al Green, State Representative Sylvester Turner and State Representative Ron Reynolds.
The organization showcased an elegant selection of sophisticate fashions for mature women and men and raised scholarship dollars to assist deserving high school students in their quest for a higher education.
This year’s recipients included Clarence Lewis, Stephen F. Austin High School, Joselyn Martinez, Sam Houston Center for Math, Paula Sauceda, North Houston Early College, Keison Perry, Westbury High School, Cynthia Sosa, Madison High School, Davon Perry, South Early College, Kierra Williams, South Early College High School, Ashlyn Williams, Stafford High School, Corey Vaughns, South Early College High School, Destiny Hall, Wheatley High School, Gabrielle Chaney, Lawrence E. Elkins High School, Royce Branch II, North Shore High School, Eric Brady II, Ridge Point High School, Alia Fitzgerald, Glenda Dawson High School, Akpaffiong Tisdel, Westfield High School, Brooke Vallaire, Harmony School of Advancement, Cessily Casas, Sam Houston Center for Math, Julian Clark II, Chester W. Nimitz High School, Emily Estrada, Kashmere High School and Alisa Hamilton, Bellaire High School.
Several local pastors and first ladies showcased their formal attire followed by members of the Forty Plus Models troupe in a dazzling showcase of fashions.
Thousands of dollars in scholarships were awarded during this year’s event.
