The Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Administration Medical Center will host the annual mental health summit for veterans and their families in the Southeast Texas Gulf Coast Region on Friday, August 15, 2014, at 8 a.m. on the campus of the University of St. Thomas.

This year’s free summit will provide resources to assist veterans and their families with sustaining a healthy and stable lifestyle.  Additional resources will be available to inform and provide awareness on mental health and wellness topics.

Attendees can expect to attend sessions on topics regarding employment services, family services, group support, community resources and assistance with veterans benefits.  Also, the summit will feature a panel to discuss any pertinent concerns and needs of the veteran community.

Over 300 organizations from the entire Southeast Texas region are registered to assist veterans and their families with support and resources in the areas of education, benefits, mental health and wellness and many more.

The summit is a collaborative event between The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and the City of Houston – Office of Veterans Affairs, Mental Health America of Greater Houston, Gulf Coast Center and Hope For The Warriors.
