Recently Empower Magazine attended the Inspire Women “Give a Spark” 16th Annual Awards Luncheon at the luxurious River Oaks Country Club, Houston, Texas. This stellar event was emceed by Kim Watson, VP of Inspire Women’s Board of Directors and Provost of Kardia Christian academy. Event proceeds raised go towards benefiting the training of women for ministry across the world.
Since its inception, Inspire Women has given over 1,800 scholarship awards totaling over $2-million. Scholarship recipients receive training that allows them to follow God’s call to change the world for Christ through missions, ministry and service.
Inspire Women’s founder and president, Anita Carman, in her own rights has been a Global Spark for “inspiring women of all ethnicities and economic levels to connect with a need in our world and train them to use their gifts and resources to make a difference.” Her Inspire Women Annual Awards Luncheon not only serves as a fundraiser; it also recognizes key individuals in the community at large whose lives exemplify ideas and actions that inspire and help others.
This year’s Distinguished Honorees were:
Business Women of the Year – Twila Carter, executive director, Astros Foundation
Father of the Year (Posthumously) – George Jordan
Women Behind the Man – Tiffany Smith, Wife of Rick Smith (manager, Houston Texans)
Spiritual Mother – Ann Thetford
Legacy Couple – Rev. T.R. & Valerie Williams, New Faith Church
The 16th Annual Inspire Women Luncheon keynote speaker was Alan Robertson of the A&E most-watched series, Duck Dynasty. Alan is the oldest son of the Duck Commander. His inspirational message to all attendees focused on his life’s journey, and the fact that he stands as a living-breathing testimony of what is possible for those that believe in Christ. Despite all his family’s success and fame, it was refreshing to appreciate that his genuine love for God and family keeps him grounded, approachable and filled with humility.
Anita Carman’s visionary Inspire Women initiatives and commitment to shaping lives across the globe has recently manifest itself in the penning of her newest book; A Daughter’s Destiny: Finding Redemption in the Midst of Broken Dreams. And, now that the 16h Annual Luncheon is in the bank, Anita has all eyes laser focused on the Inspire Women March 2017 Annual Conference.
