Tater tots are one of those things I used to love as a kid, and this fully loaded BBQ chicken version is ssooo good. You can use your favorite BBQ sauce (I used KC Masterpiece Fiery Habanero Honey) on grilled or baked chicken; either version will be tater worthy. Two cheeses can be called in for backup, along with some red onion and some cilantro; and, that’s all you need to make this satisfying easy dish. Oh! – and don’t forget to serve with some sour cream. Let’s investigate these tasty tots.

The BBQ Chicken Taters Recipe

Makes 4 servings

  • 3 cups cooked tater tots
  • 2 cups fully cooked BBQ chicken shredded into medium-large chunks
  • 1/4- BBQ sauce to taste (your favorite) I like
  • 1 cups cheddar cheese (or more to taste)
  • ½ cup gouda cheese (or your preferred cheese)
  • ¼ red onion, chopped small (or more to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped fine
  • Serve with sour cream to taste

Procedure & Cooking Instructions

Combine BBQ sauce and chicken just to make sure the sauce coats all the chicken pieces. Layer tater tots on the bottom of your dish or in individual dishes then top with some of the cheese. Next – layer with the chicken and remaining cheese on top. Sprinkle the red onion on top and heat in oven or microwave until cheese is melted and dish is heated through. Top with cilantro and serve with sour cream on top to taste. Grab a beer and enjoy.
