The BET Experience was the place to be, June 23 – 26, as celebrities from across the entertainment spectrum converged on the L.A. Live Center to perform and share their insights and wisdom.

The “Genius Talks” series, sponsored by AT&T, included an exciting slate of conversations from DJ Khaled, Gabrielle Union, Snoop Dogg, Birdman, Jermaine Dupri, and more.

One of the talks  in the series – DJ Khaled’s Keys to Genius –  shone the spotlight on DJ, producer, and hip-hop megastar, DJ Khaled, who found another level of success in 2015 when he became a leading social media personality and motivational thought-leader. He shared his keys to genius, personal branding and reinvention with host ESPN’s own Michael Smith (ESPN’s “His & Hers”).

Melissa Harris-Perry, hosted A State of the Union: Black Women in Hollywood talk featuring “Being Mary Jane” and “Birth of a Nation” actress Gabrielle Union in a discussion on the need for strong black female leads in Hollywood and the challenges women of color face in front of and behind the camera. Union spoke openly about understanding and being proud of who you are as an individual and that you can’t be everything to everyone.  Union also told a story of one of her first jobs going for a Tupac music video, where he immediately upon meeting her saw more in her and asked why she was even there.  Taking it as a sign, she left and still remembers how appreciate and grateful she was for that quick enlightenment.

New York Times best-selling author and multi-media personality, Angie Martinez, headed The Moguls panel discussion featuring Snoop Dogg, Birdman, and Jermaine Dupri as they covered a range of topics from setting trends to making bank to building successful empires while helping to shape the sound and culture of a generation.

The series concluded on Sunday with Uplifting Your Genius With Kirk Franklin, hosted by DeVon Franklin (author of The Wait and Produced by Faith ) in conversation with GRAMMY Award-winning gospel artist Kirk Franklin as they discuss how Kirk discovered his genius and draws on it in everyday life and beyond.
