Vogue’s First African-American cover model celebrates 40th Anniversary of the historic issue by encouraging business leadership among women. 

The House of Dereon will be the site of an evening of inspiration and empowerment as The BOSS Network hosts “Ladies That Lead: An Evening with Beverly Johnson” on 6-9 p.m. on next Aug. 12, at 2204 Crawford St.

The event, hosted by BOSS Founder Cameka Smith, will highlight influential women of color as they share insights on their journey to success and will spotlight Modelpreneur and CEO of BJE, LLC Beverly Johnson as a featured speaker.

Johnson recently celebrated her 40th anniversary as the first African-American woman on the cover of Vogue magazine. Other featured panelists will include:

• Dr. Simone Ellis – founder, Smile Design Studios, Family and Cosmetic Dentistry
