As I canvased the internet today reading up on the life and times of the “International King of Blues” B.B. King, I couldn’t help but recognize the extraordinary impact this legendary figure had on the music and entertainment industry.
He was born Riley B. King in 1925 to impoverished sharecropper parents in Mississippi. He began recording music at the young age of 24. This “King of Blues” music prominence spanned over seven decades in which his style of rhythm and blues influenced generations. His numerous musical awards, highly touted accomplishments, and loyal fan base are such that well-wishers surely must be amongst the millions across the globe.
The brilliant 2012 BBC Movie documentary about this iconic musician and entertainer, B.B. King: The Life of Riley, showcased “the untold true American story of an orphan boy from the heart of the Mississippi Delta who rose to music stardom around the world and inspired a generation of fans against all odds.”
