Marcel Mayfield eats, sleeps and breathes fitness – and now, she is on a mission to help as many people as possible to live their best, most confident, and healthy lives, as well.
As the owner of the newly opened TrainTBFit Elite Club in Lawrenceville, Ga., Marcel Mayfield has expectations to become a household name in the fitness industry, very soon. While to some it may sound overly ambitious, the Guyanese physique model and master fitness trainer is not accustomed to shrinking her goals and aspirations.
Discipline, hard work, faith, and unwavering determination has been embedded in her DNA since her youth, which is why the now 50 year-old superwoman has competed in national competitions, won numerous awards and is a highly sought-after coach and mentor to many across the fitness world. One training session with her, and it is easy to see what the commotion is all about. Both men and women half her age have trouble keeping up with her.
“The key is being disciplined and realizing that you only have one body, so you might as well take care of it,” she said. “I put in the work and that is why I get the results. It’s that simple.”
Well, no one can argue that she puts in the work. However, it definitely isn’t simple. Mayfield trains daily and adheres to a strict diet which has helped her to garner amazing results that most people could only dream of. Chiseled arms, legs like a track star and washboard abs. Still, while it is far from easy, she emphasizes that women and men at an “advanced age” do not have to give up on their fitness goals. They just have to be more diligent. Fitness is Mayfield’s life. She eats, sleeps and breathes it – and now, she is on a mission to help as many people as possible to live their best, most confident and healthy lives as well.
According to a recent report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics, only 23 percent of Americans are getting enough exercise. In Mayfield’s home state of Georgia, only 1 in 5 (or 20.2 percent) of adults ages 18-64 meet the guidelines for aerobic and strength exercise. That was one of the inspirations behind the opening of TrainTBFit, to create a healthier and more active community. Her fitness center features everything from general membership, elite 1 on 1 training, group training, competition prep, massages and other forms of therapy. She has implemented special programs for students, stay at-home moms and seniors. She does it all.
“It is about quality of life and knowledge. A lot of people don’t know, so I want to teach them how to have a better quality of life,” she said. “Most people say they don’t have the time, but it is all about priorities. You have to decide that you want to be your best, and then you must embrace the process. You can do it.”
Mayfield is looking to make a major impact and leave a strong and long-lasting legacy. As a rising fitness influencer, she is sure to draw a great deal of attention, and she wants to make sure she takes full advantage. Her goal is to open numerous TrainTBFit gyms across the country. Central to her growth is her strong faith. She believes that her purpose is to help people to tap into the greatest versions of themselves and to be confident in who they are. Adorning her gym is the Bible scripture from Phillippians 4:13 that reads “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
“My faith is what keeps me going and striving to be my greatest self. I know that I have a purpose and a responsibility to use the strength and the blessings I have been given to bless others. That is what I intend to do.”
