Rodney Griffin was appointed by the City of Missouri City mayor and council to the nine-member Planning and Zoning Commission on June 7, 2021. Griffin was sworn in by Mayor Robin Elackatt before a packed house. Council members Lynn Clouser and Dr. Cheryl Sterling were present at the swearing-in ceremony. The terms of commission members are staggered two-year terms. Griffin’s term commenced July 1, 2021.

“Although I have administration management background in city government, I am excited about applying my skill sets in a different city government venue,” Griffin said.

Griffin has received Congressional recognition for “dedicated service” to the Democratic Party and was a White House guest at the fiftieth anniversary of the Civil Rights Summit in Austin, Texas.
