If you are looking for hickory-smoked barbecue with a chef’s touch, you will find it at Chef’s Bar-B-Q, a  newly opened barbecue restaurant in Missouri City.

Owner Charles Irving is no stranger to the barbecue industry. Owner of Charlie’s Barbecue and Catering, he has enjoyed tremendous success through the years, opening locations in Missouri City, Sugar Land, The Houston-Galleria area, Dallas and San Antonio.

Owner of his own independent film company, it became too difficult to manage restaurants in multiple cities, prompting Irving to scale back locations and shift his focus.

“Now our desire is to come back home to start a franchise,” says Irving.

With that goal in mind, Chef’s Bar-B-Q opened its doors this spring at 2601 Cartwright Road in Missouri City.

“We are excited about it, we think it is a great restaurant and we encourage people to come out and try us,” says Irving.

The restaurant features hickory-smoked barbecue, with “a little something extra,” according to Irving.

Irving is not sharing what that “extra something” is, but believes that his special culinary touch and unique blend of seasonings are what sets the restaurant apart from other barbecue restaurants.

The eatery has already garnered several customer favorites, among them, the sliced beef, peach cobbler and homemade banana pudding.

“Customers really love our sliced beef, it is smoked for 8 to 9 hours on an old hickory smoker that allows it to stay juicy and tender,” says Irving.

The restaurant offers a family-friendly atmosphere, inside seating for up to 45 customers as well as an outdoor seating area.

The menu includes a wide range of selections, including ribs, chicken, sausage and brisket, chopped or sliced beef, barbecue wings, chicken tenders, double bacon cheeseburger and barbecue burgers, stuffed baked potatoes topped with chopped beef, sausage or grilled chicken.

Side dishes include potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans and homemade yeast rolls.

A family-owned and operated establishment, Irving is training his oldest son, Jonathan, to manage the restaurant and his son, Kenneth, a culinary arts student, is also training to work in the business.

Irving also provides catering services for special occasions, including corporate events, family reunions, family picnics and more.
