The Houston Texans are but a few days into Training Camp, and a star player is already in question. The Texans’ franchise record holder in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, Star running back Arian Foster (aka: Mr. Productivity), is being sidelined once again with an untimely groin injury. Foster suffered his injury during Monday night’s practice, and this time reports are promoting that he will have to undergo surgery and miss a fair share of the regular season.
Ranked 5th overall in rushing and 24th in passing last season, and with a quarterback battle in play, it can be argued that a solid running game at the first snap of the 2015 season is a “must have” for the Texans. Without Foster in the starting lineup on game-day, the Texans might have to go free-agency hunting and pray for that “diamond in the rough” that is hungry to prove himself with the right team.
Even with the loss of Andre Johnson in the off season, the Texans were considered definite playoff contenders. Now – with Foster sidelined, how are they fairing with the odds-makers? And, who replaces Foster on the roster? Inside the Texans’ depth-chart there’s NFL veteran running backs Chris Polk and Jonathan Grimes; or perhaps second year veteran Alfred Blue will get the call; or how about the young rookie out of LSU, Kenny Hilliard. If not them, then who? Only time will tell.
