Review: Trolls Band Together
The third installment of the Trolls franchise, Trolls Band Together, takes audiences into the next chapter of the mega-talented BroZone as the brothers set out on separate paths in a quest to embark on solo music careers. The decision leaves their baby brother and youngest band member, Branch, (voiced by Justin Timberlake) abandoned and alone to fend for himself.
With their bond of brotherhood broken, Branch embarks on his own journey and opens his heart to Poppy (Anna Kendrick) who senses something is troubling her new beau. Her excitement escalates when she discovers that Branch is the baby brother of a member of her favorite boyband, BroZone. When word reaches the pair that and one of Branch’s brothers is in danger, a fast-paced, frolicking, music-infused journey begins to reunite the brothers to save one of their own.
DreamWorks Animation brings audiences a zany and heartfelt look at what happens when a family goes their separate ways until something causes them to join forces in the face of dire circumstances. In this case, the threat comes in the form of the self-absorbed and diabolical Velvet (Amy Schumer) and her brother, Veneer (Andrew Rannells), who are holding one of the brothers captive to use his gift to shine the spotlight on themselves in a quest for fame and fortune.
The rest of this action-packed, animated film is a fast-paced, head-spinning race against time to reunite a family whose unity, despite their imperfections, is the secret weapon they didn’t know they needed. Watching this talented band of brothers awaken to the old adage that “home is where the heart is” makes this a journey worth taking.
With the voiceovers of a diverse and talented cast and a soundtrack by producing-trio Justin Timberlake, Mike Elizondo and Joseph Shirley, Trolls Band Together is a “must-see” movie that serves as the perfect lead-in to the Thanksgiving holiday when families will be coming together to remember and celebrate the importance of the ties that bind.
Directed by Walt Dohr, co-directed by Tim Heitz and produced by Gina Shay, Trolls Band Together is in theaters on Friday, Nov. 17.
