Leon Jenkins

Leon Jenkins is a 1976 Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio, and a Masters of Science Degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Leon Jenkins retired from the U.S. Army in 1998 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel following 22 ½ years of distinguished service in far away places such as Germany, Korea, and Southwest Asia.  He has received numerous Military awards including the Bronze Star Medal for service with distinction in the 1991 Gulf War, and Legend of Merit for overall military service.  He was also recognized as an “Outstanding Young Men of America” in 1987.

He served as Admin & Finance Administrator at his local church for 7 years, and now fully gives of his time, talents and treasures as a Deacon and active member of several ministries. In addition to being Editor-in-Chief of Empower Magazine, he is also President/CEO/Chair of Bethel’s Place Black Chamber of Commerce, Inc., an Adjunct Business Professor for Belhaven University, and Assistant Treasurer (Former President) of Men for Change, Inc.

Mr. Jenkins is married to the former Ms Sandra Kay Roberts of Waco, Texas, who is a former Assistant Nursing Professor at Prairie View A&M University. She presently serves as a visiting Professor for the University of Houston, Clearlake; and, holds a Doctorate degree in Nursing Research from The University of Texas in Austin.  Leon and Sandra have four lovely daughters; Tracie, a graduate of North Texas State University and President/CEO of her own Publishing Company; Dawnna, who is married and served as a Medical Doctor in the U.S. Army, but presently holds a medical residency position at UTMB, Galveston; LeAnn, who is a graduate of U.T. Austin and presently works for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship; and Kathleen, who is a Valedictorian graduate of YES Prep Southwest Public School, and  Cornell University alumni.
