The Ensemble Theatre Celebrates Legendary Gala Weekend

The Ensemble Theatre’s 45^th Anniversary Gala: “A Reflection of Art and STEMulating Entertainment”

Houston, Texas (Oct. 5, 2022) – After a 2-year pause on large-scale events due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, The Ensemble Theatre is bringing back their legendary Gala weekend. 

Gala weekend launched on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022 with the 45^th Anniversary Gala.  This year’s gala took place at the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel with a reception hosted by Mayor Sylvester Turner.  In true Ensemble fashion, this was an elegant evening of fine dining, dancing and revelry.  The Ensemble Theatre’s gala honors Rev. William A. Lawson with the Legacy of Leadership Award, Dr. Janice Beal with the Community Care Award and Dominique Perry with the Rising Star Award.  The Gala featured a celebrity guest appearance by Olympian Carl Lewis.  The gala included performances by The Ensemble Theatre mainstage actors performing snippets of this season’s productions, as well as performances from our prestigious Young Performers.  After a lengthy break, The Ensemble is more than ready to bring back the artistic excellence that it is known for and show the greater Houston Community, Corporate Sponsors and Major Donors the quality that their contributions create opportunities for.

Annual Giorgee Awards

The Ensemble Theatre Giorgee Awards are back!  After being suspended for 2 years due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, The Ensemble Theatre’s beloved Giorgee Awards are back and in full effect!  The Ensemble Theatre will be recognizing the extraordinary talents of it’s Artists, Directors, Designers and Performers from our previous season in a formal awards ceremony that is our very own Tony Awards-style celebration! This year, The Ensemble Theatre’s Giorgee Awards  will be a “PINK OUT” in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we are encouraging all attendees to wear pink.  Current and previous season subscribers have special access to this event and are encouraged to RSVP immediately.

The 18^th Annual Golf Tournament

The Ensemble Theatre’s Gala weekend will conclude on Monday, Oct. 17th with their Annual Golf Tournament.  The Annual Golf Tournament supports theatre youth initiatives that are provided by The Ensemble Theatre.  The Ensemble Theatre is widely known for its prestigious Young Performers Program and it’s TourEd Program. The Young Performers program was launched in 1985; co-founded by The Ensemble Theatre Artistic Director Eileen J. Morris and The Ensemble Theatre Board Chair Emeritus Audrey Lawson.  It has developed the artistic talents of over 4,500 of Houston’s talented youths.  The Young Performers Program is an arts focused year-round enrichment program that teaches dance, music, theatre, technical skills and cultural studies to children 6-17 years of age. Graduates from our prestigious Young Performers Program are now professionals on Broadway, film and television, and a variety of other successful career paths. Each session culminates in a production that encompasses all the taught disciplines.  The TourEd Program at The Ensemble Theatre began in 1976 with the touring production of “Brer Rabbit” written by The Ensemble Theatre Founder George Hawkins.  The Ensemble Theatre remains dedicated to presenting youth productions and arts residency programs to the Community.  The Ensemble Theatre 18^th Annual Golf Tournament will be held at Northgate Country Club at 17110 Northgate Forest Drive, Houston, Texas 77068.
