Houston Filmmaker Lakisha Lemons Releases New Psychological Thriller

Houston filmmaker Lakisha R. Lemons‘ new psychological thriller “Deadly Escape” proves that looks can be deceiving as she unfolds the story of Freda Maxwell, an escaped prisoner on the run from a maximum security prison for murdering her father and finds herself caught in an unexpected plot twist of epic proportions when she takes a young medical student hostage.

Written and directed by Lemons and executive produced by Sean Henderson, the film is a journey of desperation as the main character goes on the run from her past in a quest for survival at all costs and finds herself caught in the crosshairs of a young man who initially appears upstanding and innocent, yet is fighting to find an escape of his own – from the demons that have tormented him.

Dee Hill delivers a riveting performance as “Freda” as we watch her character transform from a merciless kidnapper to victim at the unexpected hands of Drew, played by Isaiah Vaughn, who flips the main character’s escape plans upside down. Vaughn’s performance, in moments reminiscent of Joaquin Phoenix’s tortured portrayal in “Joker,” is as equally powerful as, scene by scene, he unmasks the sad and delusional world that Drew has meticulously constructed around him to reveal his fractured reality.

The film takes a psychological dive into the old adage “everything is not as it appears” and shows how when layers of manipulation and lies are pulled back, the truth can be found.
