 Houston Native in Lead Role in Tyler Perry’s upcoming Beauty in Black series

Houston native, Crystle Stewart, pictured far right, will play a lead role in Tyler Perry’s upcoming “Beauty in Black” series, part of a multi-year, first-look deal in creative partnership with Netflix.

Stewart formerly played lead roles in Perry’s “The Oval,”  “Acrimony” and For” Better or Worse” and will now take on the role of Mallory, a successful entrepreneur who is running her own beauty products business and becomes entangled in the life of Kimmie, a young woman struggling to make ends meet after being kicked out by her mother, played by Taylor Polidore Willliams of “Divorce in the Black” and “Snowfall,” according to a Netflix press release.

The 16-episode Netflix series follows the two women’s journeys as find themselves entangled in each other’s lives.

The series, filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, was written, directed and produced by Perry in conjunction with producers Angi Bones and Tony Strickland for Tyler Perry Studios.

The ensemble cast will also feature the familiar faces of Debbie Morgan as Olivia, Richard Lawson as Norman and Charles Malik Whitfield as Jules, along with a host of other performers.
