LOS ANGELES – May 6, 2023 – PRLog — Beyond Hollywood International Film Festival (https://www.bhiff.org/) was held April 20-22 at RegalLA Live in Downtown, Los Angeles. One of the filmmakers who strutted away with an award was Micole Williams’ for her mini doc, “365 Days in LA.” It won the Best Web Series/Pilot category. The 29-minute episode showcases a veteran high school teacher who halts her life and leaves all she knows behind while pursuing a matter of the heart. It is an autobiographical account of a Houstonian navigating Hollywood as an aspiring TV writer.

The festival opened with a kick-off event with Keynote Speaker/Film Director Leslie Small and special guests included actress, Shondrella Avery and other artists. Then Saturday served as an Unlimited Movie Day for attendees and filmmakers who moved from “theater to theater to watch all the finalists being screened.” The Red Carpet Awards Ceremony was an upscale formal event, filled with press interviews, that concluded the festivities.

“365 Days in LA” proved to be a crowd favorite. To an excitingly supportive crowd, in her acceptance speech, Williams, briefly emotional and then composed, recalled her journey and what prompted her to enter festivals this season with, “this was time to bank on self and step into new territory and not just keep it all to yourself.” When asked what was next, she shared “I’m praying I’ll be able to do more documentaries. I want to help other people with their stories being told…and then just helping people publish books…Because that is what I do.”

Williams heads an award-winning media arts company, Eclectically You Experience (EYE), and its goal is to empower people to choose life. She believes her work also empowers Indie and BIPOC artists in small towns or outside of entertainment hubs to activate their “inner creative” to find the courage to tell their own distinct stories and to “greenlight” themselves.

Williams is currently scheduled to make appearances this summer in LA, New Orleans, Atlanta, New York as well as her hometown of Houston for her Pop-up Book Tour featuring her four books published under EYE. Her latest is a self-help book of affirmations titled, 35 Love Notes to Self, and she believes it has helped her on her journey, navigating new chapters in life. The filmmaker is also scheduled to be a guest for the upcoming June episode of BIFF’s festival podcast, Beyond Take Two. Join EYE’s mailing list for more updates at www.eclecticallyyou.com.
